I recently had the opportunity to try the new Michelob Ultra Light Cider. This light version of hard cider has a reasonable 120 calories, and since it is brewed from apples, it is also gluten free. In my opinion, the reduction in sweetness to lower calories in this cider results in a more refreshing beverage. I actually haven’t bought hard cider in years, because I was tried of overly sweet heavy ciders with too many calories. This cider, I will buy.
As the green label hints at, Michelob Ultra Light Cider has a fresh green apple flavor, which pairs well with a great deal of summer fare. Here I paired it with a plate of Salsa Verde Mahi Mahi, that I had prepared on the grill in a foil pouch. It would also go well with any dish traditionally paired with white wine, but the cider will compete less with the food, while still refreshing your palette.
Pick up a six-pack of the new Michelob Ultra Light Cider for your next party, or just to enjoy along with a weeknight dinner. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I know I was.
