Unchained Naked Chardonnay… I can only imagine the weirdo spam comments I will garner from this innocent wine review. Well, it will be interesting. All joking aside though, this is another wonderful white from the folks over at Big House wines. Check out my earlier review of their Big House White & Birdman Pinot Grigio.
Rather than the standard oak aging of most chardonnays, Unchained is developed in stainless steel tanks and neutral oak barrels. This leaves the wine with a freshness and lets the flavor of the original grape, well… be naked. I do like a warm toasty “oaky” chardonnay at times, this is a different, but just as lovely creature. It is fresher and less trained. A creature that, after a couple glasses, might inspire you to start creating new recipes at about 10pm at night, and start instagramming your friends.
Big House Unchained Naked Chardonnay paired wonderfully with the Bacon Wrapped Chicken Stuffed with Roasted Peppers & Basil and the White Truffle Pumpkin Seed Quinoa I made that evening (I’ll link it up when I finally get around to editing the plethora of photos and publish the recipe). The wine would also go well with a variety of dishes, such as: paella, grilled pork tenderloin or scampi.
At a suggested retail of $10 a bottle ($22 of their convenient 3L box) this is an excellent buy… go try some yourself. I of course, want to hear about what you cooked to eat with it 😉
